The future of self-etch is now self-evident.
More and more doctors are choosing self-etch adhesives for a simpler procedure and reduced risk of post-operative sensitivity. That's why the scientists at 3M ESPE looked at ways to take your confidence in self-etch to a whole new level. They've succeeded with Adper™ Scotchbond™ SE Self-Etch Adhesive.
Colour-change indicator: be confident of adhesive coverage and activation.
Confidence starts with knowing you have accurate adhesive placement and coverage. There will be no doubt using Adper™ Scotchbond™ SE adhesive. Its colour-change indicator gives you visual confirmation of coverage, as well as proper etch activation. The technique provides for a solvent-free, hydrophobic overcoat similar to the bonding philosophy of Adper™ Scotchbond™ Multi-Purpose Adhesive. This novel bonding approach, combining the unique colour change technology and hydrophobic overcoat, results in low technique sensitivity and more consistent performance.
Radiopacity: be confident in your future diagnosis.
In the case of adhesive pooling, it can be difficult to distinguish between cured adhesive film and secondary decay on a radiograph. But Adper™ Scotchbond™ SE adhesive contains a surface-modified, bonded zirconia nanofiller that provides radiopacity to reduce the chance of misdiagnosis of secondary caries in the case of adhesive pooling. In addition, the bonded nanofiller enhances bond strength.
Cross-sectional view of two Class II restorations. The left side is bonded with Clearfil™ SE Bond adhesive. Note the appearance of dark lines in multiple locations along the composite-adhesive-tooth interfaces. The lines are caused by pooled radiolucent adhesive, and can be confused with tooth decay. The right side is Adper™ Scotchbond™ SE Self-Etch Adhesive. Due to its radiopacity, there are no dark lines present to be misdiagnosed.

Be confident in achieving accuracy for a wide range of procedures with Adper™ Scotchbond™ SE Self-Etch Adhesive. Light-curing Adper™ Scotchbond™ SE adhesive is for these indications:
Adper™ Scotchbond™ SE adhesive is suited for light-curing materials, but not for dual-curing or self-curing materials, and is not indicated for indirect applications, including use in veneer placement. |

Be confident of proven performance for a wide range of confidence inspiring features.
Adper™ Scotchbond™ SE Self-Etch Adhesive has performed well in several clinical and university studies.
Proven bond strength.
First, it demonstrates bond strengths that are comparable with total etch adhesives. The patented, bonded nanofiller that gives Adper Scotchbond SE adhesive its radiopacity, also helps optimize bond strength.
Shear bond strength to dentin and enamel

Reduced risk of post-operative sensitivity.
Unlike total-etch systems, with Adper Scotchbond SE adhesive the etching and subsequent penetration of resin monomers into the demineralized dentin and enamel is carried out without a separate etch and rinse step. A major benefit of this procedure for dentin bonding is that the etching depth and the depth of penetration of the adhesive are identical. In addition, this keeps the collagen fibers from collapsing - and eliminates dependence on "moist" bonding which is characteristic of the 5th generation "one-bottle" systems.
Excellent root desensitization

Low nanoleakage
In a nanoleakage study comparing leading adhesives, Adper™ Scotchbond™ SE adhesive was the only bonding agent tested that showed no signs of nanoleakage.
It's accuracy you can see from the first step to the last.
Just follow these five easy steps to ensure full and accurate coverage when using Adper™ Scotchbond™ SE Self-Etch Adhesive.
| Step 1. Primer (Bottle A) goes on pink, acting as a guide for achieving full coverage when applying the adhesive. | Step 2. Apply adhesive (Bottle B), and the pink colour disappears, indicating where the adhesive is placed. |
| Step 3. The colour change also indicates the activation of the acid and commencement of the etching process. Agitate for 20 seconds. Air dry for 10 seconds. | Step 4. Apply hydrophobic overcoat and air thin. Light cure for 10 seconds. |
| Step 5. Final restoration. |
