3M™ Nomad™ Entrance Matting Systems

Trap, hold and hide everything from dirt, water, moisture and sand – at your door step! 3M™ Nomad™ Matting Systems protect flooring and reduce maintenance costs while helping improve safety and comfort.

A system of several, sequential matting textures and performances work together to help maintain and protect your flooring surfaces.

Why is Entrance Matting Important?

Dirty Little Secrets:
Up to 24 pounds of dirt can be tracked in by just 1000 people coming through an entrance every day over a 20 day work period. It can cost more than $600 to remove one pound of dirt after it has been tracked into a building.

A combination scraper mat and carpet mat entry system can remove up to 10 times more dirt than just a carpet mat alone. A 30 foot entrance matting system is recommended to remove 100% of dirt at your doorways.

Without adequate mating, 42% of a floor's finish can be removed within the first six feet of an entrance after only 1500 people have entered your building. The use of a 3M™ Nomad™ Scraper Mat outside the door will capture up to 11 times more dirt and moisture than no mat.

What to look for in an entrance matting system

Remove dirt, grit and moisture: As visitors walk over your matting it should remove dirt from their shoes. Use Primary 'scraper' matting to remove dirt and grit. Follow with Secondary matting to remove moisture.

Be long enough: Short mats get stepped over and don't work. Put down enough matting so that visitors step on it several times. The more steps the better the cleaning.

Lock the dirt, grit and moisture away inside: Once a mat has removed the dirt, grit and moisture, you don't want to see it again. A good mat will lock it away inside, well away from the surface. A poor mat will keep it on the surface and allow it to be tracked into your building by the next visitor.

Stay looking good: During bad weather matting gets tested to its limits. Poor matting looks dirty and sodden very quickly. Good matting stays looking great all day.

Be easy to clean: Mats that remove dirt from shoes need cleaning. A good mat is easy and quick to clean, releasing all of its dirt easily to vacuuming, and always looking great. Poor matting takes longer to clean and doesn't seem to look 'clean' again.

How to decide which mat to install

The mat selected will depend upon the environment. Is it a wet area or a dry area? If it is a wet area, what chemicals are present? Is debris present or not? Do you want to keep debris on top of the mat? How large are the debris particles? How will the mat be cleaned?

Fatigue-Resistant Matting for Dry Areas

Textured solid top of all 3M™ Safety-Walk™ Fatigue-Resistant Matting for dry areas helps improve traction and allow debris and liquid to stay on top of the mat for easy cleanup.

Fatigue-Resistant Matting for Wet Areas

Open construction of all 3M™ Safety-Walk™ Cushion Matting for wet areas lets liquids and small particles pass through, providing a safe, dry, surface while "trapping" debris in the mat until you're ready to clean it up.
