 Do all fluoride varnishes separate?
Yes. Fluoride varnish includes Colophony resin that will not dissolve the sodium fluoride and other components in the product. Over time, these ingredients will settle out to the bottom of the mixture. In certain packages it is nearly impossible to mix the contents up before applying to patients and may lead to inconsistent doses. This can be avoided by using unit dose packaging, or packaging that allows easy re-mixing of the product.
Do Xylitol sweetened products contain any other sugars or sugar substitutes?
Sometimes. Products that contain Xylitol can help reduce the risk of dental decay. Research shows that this reduction can be greater if there are no other sugars or sugar substitutes in a product with Xylitol.
